With Solid State Device technology, great development in electronics field has been achieved. Devices such as diodes, transistors, microprocessors etc belong to this group. In this new family, diode is a basic member. Other devices are manufactured using diode principles. Further researches in diode resulted in the invention of Light Emitting Diodes. They have been used as a substitute to conventional light sources. Being a solid-state material, there is no heating filaments or fluids inside it. When electricity is passed through LEDs, energy is released in the form of light and not as heat. This is the main difference between LEDs and conventional bulbs.
At the early time, LEDs of low power and voltage were developed. Though it helped to save energy to some extent, it could not meet all requirements. Therefore, developing LEDs with high power was a necessity. The advantage of such LEDs is that they could replace conventional bulbs at home and offices. Thus, high power LED lighting bulb became a hot topic to discuss in the technological world. The arrival of new High power LEDs created a revolution in home lighting. Using power LED lighting bulbs, a lot of energy is saved from being wasted. The basic theory of power saving LED is, ‘consume less and waste less’. It consumes very small amount of energy and it converts that energy into light. Therefore, only negligible amount of energy is lost during its working. As they have very long life, they require no replacement for many years. If you want to use high power LEDs continuously for many hours, then buy LEDs with suitable heat sink. This helps to remove the presence of heat from diode and extends the life of LED bulbs. Thus, LED bulbs become the best light source for both household and commercial use.
